Map of Chiang Rai showing its various major locations of attractions.
Doi Tung, some also dubbed as the Swiss of Thailand, is next on my itinerary - famous there is Mae Fa Luang, a botanical garden built to commemorate the late Queen mother.
Leaving Doi Angkhang, scenic sights of the mountains along the drive is breathtaking - posing some risks taking the eyeballs off the road occasionally.
Along the way was another hill tribe offering handicrafts for sale to passing tourists. Looking up to their stores from below.
They were more enterprising in providing entertainments beside songs & dances. How ingenious is the construction of this giant swing? Made by putting trunks of young trees together.
Girl sat waiting for the patrons to participate in their bamboo dance.
But soon as a 'convenient store' on a truck arrived, everybody rushed to sample its wares.
I was waiting for the moment to catch the sight of their head ware.
Keeping the change after her purchase.
I were more interested in the kids at play during interval of their performances.
An innocent look with curiosity while her friend concentrated on her board game.
A camera shy girl hid behind her friend.
Arriving finally, the walk towards Mae Fah Luang offered a glimpse of what is to come.
Northern style golden banners at the entrance greeted arriving visitors.
What a profusion of colors of so many flowers around. One can easily spend a whole day here - truly delightful.
Looking up at this solitary row trees offered contrast to the valley of flowers beds around.
I can't resist taking a shot of these lovely children posing while their parents took theirs.
The grounds of this forestry research station on the way down opened its ground for campers too! Their friendly staff even provided "Kao Tom" - a rice porridge for breakfast.
Leaving Doi Tung and down to the foothills, these roadside stores with roof of Northern architectural style. My favorite mandarin oranges going for Bth10 a kilo here!
